Police in Huye District are investigating a case in which a man identified as Aloys Karamira, also known as Gasongo, was killed after being attacked at his home in Kigarama Village, Cyarwa Cell, Tumba Sector.

The incident occurred on the night of April 17, 2026, when unknown assailants reportedly broke into his residence and fatally assaulted him.

The Police spokesperson for the Southern Province, CIP Kamanzi Hassan, confirmed that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing.

He said security teams responded immediately after receiving the report, and the body of the deceased was transferred to the University Teaching Hospital of Butare (CHUB) for a post-mortem examination.

“Preliminary investigations indicate that three people suspected of involvement in this killing have been arrested and handed over to judicial authorities. They are currently detained at Ngoma Police Station,” CIP Kamanzi said.

Initial findings suggest the killing may be linked to longstanding domestic or interpersonal disputes involving the deceased and individuals close to him, including family members or associates.

Police, however, declined to disclose the identities of the suspects, saying investigations are ongoing.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that among those detained could be the victim’s wife and some of his employees, though authorities have urged the public to await official conclusions.

Police have called on residents to resolve disputes through legal and administrative channels, warning that unresolved conflicts can escalate into serious crimes, including loss of life.

The deceased is suspected to have been killed over family disputes.
