Rwandan music star King James delivered a memorable performance at BK Arena on Saturday night as he celebrated 20 years in the music industry, taking thousands of fans on a nostalgic journey through his biggest hits.
The concert, dubbed “20 Years of King James”, brought together music lovers from across the country, alongside fellow artists and entertainment industry figures who joined the singer in celebrating his two-decade career. The event was initially planned as a major anniversary show after strong demand from fans, with a second performance added following the rapid sell-out of the first concert.
King James, whose music journey began in 2006, has built a reputation as one of Rwanda’s most influential contemporary artists, with a catalogue of songs that have remained popular across generations.
The singer made a dramatic entrance, descending from the ceiling of BK Arena before launching into his hit song “Naratomboye”, a moment that immediately energized the packed venue.
Fans sang along throughout the night as King James performed some of the songs that have defined his career, including “Nzakubona Ryari”, “Agatimatima”, “Niki Utabona”, “Naramukundaga”, “Poupette”, “Narashize”, “Ndakwizera” and “Buhoro Buhoro”.
The performance also celebrated his collaborations with other artists. King James shared the stage with Zuba Ray for their song “Ikirezi”, while producer Clement Ishimwe joined him for performances of “Ntamahitamo” and “Ese Warikiniraga”.
Other guest performers included Shaffy, who joined him on songs such as “Akabanga” and “Bana”, as well as Ariel Wayz, with whom he performed their collaboration “Ndagukumbuye”.
Mico The Best also joined King James on stage for their 2015 hit “Umugati”, adding another highlight to the anniversary celebration.
Before the main performance, fans were entertained by DJ Arthur, while Lucky and Miss Muyango Claudine hosted the event. Rising artist King V opened the show, setting the stage for the headline performance.
The first night ended with King James performing “Ndagutegereje”, leaving fans celebrating a milestone that highlighted his lasting impact on Rwanda’s music scene.
King James returned to BK Arena on Sunday, August 2, 2026, for the second night of the anniversary celebration.
