Kiyovu Sports have appointed Englishman Mark Harrison as their new head coach, with the 65-year-old arriving in Kigali on Tuesday to take charge of the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Harrison landed at Kigali International Airport on August 11 and was welcomed by Kiyovu Sports officials led by club spokesperson Minani Hemedi.
He replaces Haringingo Francis Christian, who left Kiyovu Sports to take charge of rivals Rayon Sports.
Kiyovu had been operating without a permanent head coach since Haringingo’s departure, with assistant coach Sebarera Ayubu Khaliru overseeing the team.
Harrison arrives with extensive experience across African football. He has coached several clubs in South Africa, including Golden Arrows, Mpumalanga Black Aces, Bay Stars, African Warriors and Chippa United.
His African coaching career has also taken him to Zimbabwe, where he managed Harare City, CAPS United and Highlanders, as well as Kenya’s Gor Mahia, Township Rollers of Botswana and Malawi’s Mighty Wanderers, his most recent club.
The English coach has also managed Stafford Rangers in England and had coaching spells with Fortune and Hurriya.
Harrison previously played as a goalkeeper before moving into coaching.
At Kiyovu Sports, he will work alongside Rubangura Omar, who has joined the club from Rutsiro FC, while Sebarera Ayubu Khaliru is expected to remain on the coaching staff.
His immediate task will be to shape Kiyovu’s squad and prepare the club for the 2026/27 campaign as the Green and White side looks to return to the top end of Rwandan football.
