Newly recruited personnel of the District Administration Security Support Organ (DASSO), who will serve in 15 districts, have completed their basic training and been urged to apply their newly acquired skills to preventing crime and addressing problems affecting communities.

The message was delivered by Minister of Local Government Dominique Habimana on October 29, 2026, during a graduation ceremony held at the Rwanda National Police Training School in Gishari, Rwamagana District.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Administration and Personnel, DCG Jeanne Chantal Ujeneza, district leaders from the areas where the officers will be deployed, and other officials.

In his address, Minister Habimana reminded the graduates that security is a cornerstone of national development, noting that Rwanda’s achievements across various sectors have been made possible by the country’s stability.

He urged the new officers to play an active role in protecting public security and preventing crime, particularly theft, poor sanitation, assault and bodily harm, drug abuse, and the sale and consumption of substandard alcoholic beverages.

He also highlighted other challenges that require cooperation with relevant institutions to address, including street children, school dropouts and poor service delivery.

“Addressing these challenges requires cooperation among all institutions and citizens so that they can be resolved and Rwandans can live happily and in security,” Habimana said.
