Miss Rwanda 2020 Nishimwe Naomie and her husband, Michael Tesfay, are expecting their first child.
Naomie announced the news on social media, sharing photos showing her pregnancy and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to become parents.
“Jesus, thank you for making us parents. Thank you for fulfilling your promise and blessing us with a child loved beyond words,” she wrote.
Naomie and Tesfay, an Ethiopian national, got married in December 2024 after dating for several years. Their relationship became public in 2022, before they later announced their engagement.
The couple had previously experienced a pregnancy loss. Naomie discussed the difficult experience in her memoir, More Than a Crown, published in December 2025.
Naomie rose to prominence after winning the Miss Rwanda crown in 2020 and has remained active in the public sphere through social media and her involvement with the Mackenzie group and its fashion brand, Zoi Design.
The couple’s announcement marks a new chapter as they prepare to welcome their first child.
