Muslims across Rwanda on Friday morning, March 20, 2026, joined millions worldwide in Eid prayers marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
The prayers, held to celebrate Eid al-Fitr, drew large crowds at Kigali Pelé Stadium, where the national gathering took place.
The event brought together Muslims from all walks of life and was attended by senior officials, including Rwanda Defence Force Chief of Defence Staff Mubarak Muganga and Deputy Ombudsman Mukama Abbas, who joined worshippers in the congregational prayer.
In his Eid message, Rwanda’s Grand Mufti Sheikh Sindayigaya Mussa urged Muslims to continue practicing good deeds beyond Ramadan.
“Completing the month of Ramadan does not mean the end of doing good. A wise believer draws lessons from this period and increases their commitment, as God commands us to worship and do good at all times until death,” he said.
The message underscored the spiritual significance of Eid al-Fitr as not only a celebration, but also a reminder to sustain discipline, generosity and faith beyond the fasting period.
