The National Examination and School Inspection Authority (NESA) has released the schedule for the return of boarding school students for the third term of the 2025/2026 academic year.

According to NESA, students will report back to school between April 17 and April 20, 2026, in a phased arrangement based on districts to ensure safe and well-coordinated transportation.

On April 17, students from Ruhango, Gisagara, Ngororero, Nyagatare, Gatsibo, and Musanze districts will travel to their respective schools.

On April 18, students from Huye, Nyamagabe, Nyabihu, Rubavu, and Burera will resume.

On April 19, the return schedule covers students from Nyanza, Kamonyi, Karongi, Rutsiro, Rulindo, Gakenke, Ngoma, and Kirehe districts.

On April 20, students from Muhanga, Nyaruguru, Rusizi, Nyamasheke, Bugesera, Gicumbi, Nyarugenge, Gasabo, and Kicukiro will report.

NESA emphasized that the staggered schedule is intended to ensure order, safety, and smooth movement of students across the country. Parents have been urged to strictly adhere to the timetable and ensure learners depart early enough to arrive before the official start of the term on April 20, 2026.

Students traveling from Kigali will assemble at Kigali Pele Stadium, where transport will be organized to different provinces. The facility will close after 3:00 p.m. each day.

The education authority further called on parents, school administrators, and students to cooperate fully to ensure a smooth and safe reopening of the academic term.
