Amagaju FC have appointed experienced Rwandan coach Nshimiyimana Canisius as their new head coach, replacing Belgian tactician Sghir Hammadi ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The Nyamagabe-based club confirmed the appointment on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, as they begin rebuilding following a challenging campaign that saw them fight to remain in the Rwanda Premier League.

Nshimiyimana joins Amagaju FC after leaving Mukura VS&L, where he spent the 2025/26 season as head coach following six years as an assistant coach at the Huye-based club.

During his first season in charge, the former defender guided Mukura VS&L to a seventh-place finish in the 18-team Rwanda Premier League with 47 points. The team recorded 12 wins, 11 draws and 11 defeats, scoring 36 goals and conceding 38.

Amagaju FC, meanwhile, struggled last season, finishing 16th with 35 points and entering the relegation playoffs to secure their top-flight survival. They managed nine victories, eight draws and 17 losses, scoring 19 goals while conceding 38.

The appointment reunites Nshimiyimana with a club where he built much of his football career. He joined Mukura VS&L as a player in 1998, featuring as a defender before retiring in 2010 and moving into coaching, first working with youth teams before progressing to senior football management.

Amagaju FC have also retained members of their technical staff, extending contracts with assistant coach Hakizimana Jean Baptiste and goalkeeper coach Maniraguha Nicolas as the club prepares for the new season.

The club will be hoping Nshimiyimana’s experience can help them establish stability and improve their performance in the upcoming Rwanda Premier League campaign.
