Police FC has appointed Moroccan tactician Rkyer Jaafar as its new head coach on a two-year contract as the club begins preparations for the upcoming football season.
Jaafar replaces Ben Moussa, who spent one season in charge of the Rwanda Police-backed club.
The club also appointed Spanish coach Bakkali Tahiri Mostafa as Jaafar’s assistant, with the two signing contracts that will run for the next two years.
Jaafar takes over at a time when Police FC is undergoing major changes aimed at strengthening the team ahead of the new campaign. The club is yet to begin pre-season training, but has already made several administrative and technical adjustments.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Diane Ntakirutimana was recently appointed as the club’s new secretary general, replacing Chief Inspector of Police (CIP) Claudette Umutoni, who served in the role for three years.
The club has also brought in former player Rutsindura Antoine, popularly known as Mabombe, as technical director to oversee football-related operations.
In an effort to build a stronger squad, Police FC has signed several new players, including Moussa Limane, Keffa Tangara, Mzungu Japhet, Iddrisu Shaibu, Rushema Chris, Byishimo Valua and Rugwiro Kevin.
The club has also renewed contracts for some of its key players, including captain Nsabimana Eric, popularly known as Zidane, alongside Iradukunda Simeon, Niyongira Patience and David Chimezie.
The latest changes reflect Police FC’s ambition to assemble a competitive team capable of challenging for honours in domestic competitions during the upcoming season.
