President Daniel Francesco Chapo of Mozambique and President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani of Mauritania have arrived in Rwanda ahead of the African CEO Forum, a high-level gathering bringing together African heads of state, government officials, and leading private sector investors.
The forum is scheduled to take place at the Kigali Convention Centre from May 14 to 15, 2026, and is expected to focus on boosting investment, strengthening public-private partnerships, and accelerating Africa’s economic transformation.
Upon arrival, President Ghazouani was received by Minister of Internal Security Dr. Vincent Biruta, while President Chapo was welcomed by Minister of Justice and Attorney General Dr. Emmanuel Ugirashebuja.
The African CEO Forum is one of the continent’s leading business and policy platforms, designed to connect political leadership with investors and corporate decision-makers to drive development-oriented investment across Africa.
This year’s edition is expected to bring together at least six African heads of state. Three have already arrived in Kigali, including Guinea’s Mamady Doumbouya, Mozambique’s Daniel Chapo, and Nigeria’s President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Other expected leaders include Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema of Gabon and Kenya’s President William Samoei Ruto.
The opening session will feature President Paul Kagame alongside Rwanda Development Board (Rwanda Development Board) Chief Executive Officer Jean Guy Afrika, Makhtar Diop of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Jeune Afrique publisher Amir Ben Yahmed.
A key panel discussion will spotlight investment opportunities in Rwanda, bringing together officials from RDB, Zipline Africa executive Caitlin Burton, and RSSB Deputy CEO Louise Kanyonga, among other industry leaders.
The discussions are expected to highlight opportunities in key sectors such as infrastructure, energy, mining, and digital innovation, with participation from private sector players including Trinity Metals, Duval Group, Elsewedy Electric, and IFC Vice President for Africa Ethiopis Tafara.
Rwanda’s Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva is also expected to join counterparts from Côte d’Ivoire and Mozambique in a high-level dialogue on how large-scale infrastructure and corporate investment can reshape Africa’s economic outlook.
A separate session on sports investment will feature Rwanda’s Minister of Sports Nelly Mukazayire, who will discuss how sports infrastructure, events, and athletes can be leveraged to create economic opportunities and youth employment.
The forum is expected to further cement Kigali’s position as a continental hub for business diplomacy and high-level investment dialogue.
