A high-level Rwandan delegation is in Brazil seeking to deepen trade and investment ties and open new opportunities for cooperation in agriculture, innovation, skills development and the private sector.

Led by Ministry of Trade and Industry Permanent Secretary Chantal Tuyishimire, the delegation is conducting a business mission from August 17 to 21, bringing together representatives of government institutions and the private sector.

The mission includes government-to-government and business-to-business engagements aimed at expanding commercial partnerships between Rwanda and Brazil.

The delegation visited Embrapa, Brazil’s state-owned agricultural research corporation, where discussions focused on agricultural research, innovation, technology transfer and opportunities for investment and trade.

The Rwandan officials also met with the leadership of ApexBrasil, Brazil’s trade and investment promotion agency, to explore ways of strengthening bilateral trade and attracting Brazilian investment to Rwanda.

In Santa Catarina State, the delegation held talks with government officials on economic cooperation and investment opportunities while promoting business-to-business partnerships between Rwandan companies and businesses in the state.

The mission also resulted in the signing of a cooperation agreement between Rwanda Polytechnic and Brazil’s Federation of Commerce, Goods, Services and Tourism (FECOMERCIO), focusing on skills development and hospitality.

The delegation’s programme will continue through August 21, with further engagements expected to focus on expanding trade, attracting investment and strengthening economic cooperation between businesses and institutions from the two countries.

The mission is targeting sectors including agriculture, agribusiness, manufacturing, healthcare, financial services, education, ICT and innovation.

The visit comes as Rwanda seeks to diversify its trade and investment partnerships, attract new investors and create opportunities for local businesses to access international markets, technology and expertise.
