Rwanda earned nearly $12 million from agricultural and livestock products exported to international markets over a five-day period in September, according to figures from the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB).
NAEB said the country exported 8,391 tonnes of agricultural and livestock products between September 14 and 18, 2026, generating $11.8 million, equivalent to about Rwf17.4 billion.
Coffee was the leading export by value during the period, with 802 tonnes generating $5.55 million in revenue.
Other major exports included tea, vegetables and fruits. Rwanda exported 218 tonnes of tea worth $677,200, while 401 tonnes of vegetables generated $418,600. A further 571 tonnes of fruits earned $558,800.
Rwandan vegetables were exported to markets in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, the United Arab Emirates and several African countries. Fruits were mainly shipped to the UAE and African markets.
The country also exported 10 tonnes of flowers, generating $64,500. The flowers were sold in South Africa, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Livestock products accounted for 229 tonnes of exports and generated $430,100, with most of the products sold on African markets.
Other agricultural products made up the largest volume of exports during the five-day period, totaling 6,159 tonnes and generating $4.1 million. These products were exported to markets including Bangladesh, the United States and several African countries.
The figures highlight the continued contribution of agricultural exports to Rwanda’s foreign-exchange earnings, with coffee, tea, horticultural products and other agricultural commodities forming a significant part of the country’s export trade.
