Rwanda earned more than Rwf12.8 billion ($8.7 million) from the export of agricultural and livestock products between July 20 and 24, 2026, highlighting the continued contribution of the agriculture sector to the country’s foreign exchange earnings.
According to figures released by the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB), Rwanda exported 8,826 tonnes of agricultural and livestock products during the five-day period.
Agricultural exports generated the largest share of the revenue, bringing in $3.47 million from 6,584 tonnes of products shipped mainly to markets in the Netherlands, Bangladesh and other African countries.
Coffee remained one of the leading export earners, with 426 tonnes exported and generating $2.3 million, while tea exports reached 575 tonnes and earned $1.6 million.
Vegetable exports accounted for 655 tonnes and generated $565,000, with key markets including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, France and South Africa.
Rwanda also exported 318 tonnes of fruits, earning $250,000, with major destinations including the United Arab Emirates and other African markets.
Flower exports stood at five tonnes, generating $30,687, with shipments mainly destined for Nigeria, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, livestock products contributed 263 tonnes of exports worth $507,600, with African countries serving as the main markets.
The latest export performance underscores the growing role of Rwanda’s agricultural sector in expanding international trade, increasing farmers’ market opportunities and supporting national economic development.
