Rwanda generated more than Rwf13 billion from agricultural and livestock exports in just four days, highlighting the growing contribution of the sector to the country’s foreign exchange earnings and economic growth.
According to the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB), the country exported 8,179 tonnes of agricultural and livestock products between July 27 and 31, 2026, earning significant revenues from key commodities sold on international markets.
Coffee emerged as the biggest earner, with 467 tonnes exported and generating $3.2 million, followed by tea, where 578 tonnes earned $1.68 million.
Vegetable exports reached 737 tonnes, bringing in $1.04 million, while 370 tonnes of fruits generated $254,908 during the same period.
The livestock sector contributed 327 tonnes of exports valued at $470,557, while Rwanda’s flower exports, which stood at four tonnes, earned $21,836.
Other agricultural products accounted for 5,697 tonnes exported to markets including the United States, Bangladesh and several African countries, generating $2.93 million.
The latest figures underline the increasing role of agriculture exports in Rwanda’s efforts to boost foreign currency inflows, promote value addition and expand the country’s footprint in global markets.
