Rwanda is expected to receive rain between September 11 and 20, with rainfall forecast to be within the normal range or slightly below the average for this time of year.
The Rwanda Meteorology Agency, Meteo Rwanda, said rainfall during the 10-day period is expected to range between 10 and 64 millimetres, with some areas receiving rain over two to four days.
The highest rainfall is expected in the Western Province, much of the Northern Province and parts of Nyamagabe and Nyaruguru districts.
Most parts of the Western and Northern provinces are forecast to receive between 40 and 64 millimetres of rain.
Similar rainfall is expected in northern and western parts of Nyamagabe and western Nyaruguru. However, some areas of Gicumbi, Rulindo and Gakenke are expected to receive less rainfall.
Parts of Muhanga, Nyagatare and Gatsibo, as well as other areas of the Northern Province, Nyamagabe and Nyaruguru, are expected to receive between 30 and 40 millimetres.
Rainfall of between 20 and 30 millimetres is forecast in parts of Huye, Nyanza, Ruhango, Kamonyi, Rwamagana and Kayonza, as well as other parts of the country.
The lowest rainfall, ranging from 10 to 20 millimetres, is expected in much of Bugesera, southern parts of Ngoma and Kirehe, and the Mayaga region.
Meteo Rwanda also forecasts maximum temperatures of between 21°C and 33°C, while minimum temperatures are expected to range from 10°C to 19°C.
The agency said temperatures are likely to be slightly above the average for this time of year.
Temperatures of between 31°C and 33°C are forecast in parts of central and southern Kigali, much of Bugesera, eastern Nyagatare, Gatsibo and Kayonza, northern Kirehe, Mayaga and the Bugarama Valley.
Minimum temperatures of between 10°C and 12°C are expected in colder areas, including much of Nyabihu, Nyamagabe, Nyaruguru, Musanze and Ngororero, as well as parts of Rusizi, Nyamasheke, Rutsiro and Rubavu.
Meteo Rwanda forecasts moderate winds across the country, with speeds ranging from 4 to 12 metres per second.
Stronger winds are expected in Karongi, Rutsiro, Rubavu, Nyamasheke, Ngororero, Nyabihu, Nyamagabe, Musanze and Burera districts.
The agency has urged residents, particularly those in areas expected to experience stronger winds, to remain vigilant and take precautions against possible weather-related hazards.
Residents have also been advised to follow guidance from disaster management authorities and take appropriate measures to reduce the risk of damage from the expected weather conditions.
