Rwanda international goalkeeper Muhawenayo Gad has secured a move to Malaysian top-flight club Kuching City FC, marking a new chapter in his professional career.

Muhawenayo is set to travel to Malaysia on Sunday to join the club after reaching an agreement with Kuching City, following his departure from Marines FC, where he had signed but did not make an official appearance.

The goalkeeper rose to prominence during his time at Musanze FC, where his performances earned him several call-ups to the Rwanda national team, Amavubi.

He later joined Gorilla FC in 2024, becoming an important figure before leaving the club in 2026. During the 2025/26 season, Muhawenayo featured in 16 matches for Gorilla FC and kept six clean sheets.

Before completing his move to Malaysia, he had been training with Marines FC, who announced him as a new signing before both parties later agreed to part ways.

Kuching City FC, founded in 2015, has established itself in Malaysia’s top division and finished second in the 2025/26 season behind champions Johor Darul Ta’zim.

The move gives Muhawenayo an opportunity to continue developing his career abroad and adds another international chapter to his journey as one of Rwanda’s recognised goalkeepers.
