Rwanda men’s national volleyball team head coach Frédéric Guérin has named the final 14 players who will represent the country at the African Volleyball Championship in Tunisia.
Captain Dusenge Wiclif and Ntawiha Kenny headline the squad as opposite hitters, while Ntanteteri Crispin and Ndayisaba Sylvestre have been selected as setters.
The outside hitters are Niyonshima Samuel, Mutabazi Yves, Kwizera Eric and Munyinya Mugisha Thierry.
Rwigema Simon and Mugisha Jean Santere will serve as liberos, while Twagirayezu Emmy, Kanamugire Prince, Nkurunziza John and Shyaka Frank make up the middle blockers.
Three players were cut from the final squad, including Police VC middle blocker Rwanyonga Alex and setter Ganza Nolan Enzo, both of whom had received their first national team call-ups.
Police VC libero Irakoze Alain was also left out despite representing Rwanda at the previous African Championship and recently being named Best Libero at the 2026 CAVB Men’s Club Championship in Rwanda.
They were among seven players released from the squad. The others were Gisagara VC opposite hitter Gatsinzi Venuste, Gisagara VC outside hitter Rukundo Willy, APR VC outside hitter Munyamahoro D’Amour and REG VC outside hitter Gisubizo Merci.
Setter Nsabimana Mahoro Yvan, who had initially joined the national team camp, later withdrew and was replaced by Ndayisaba Sylvestre.
Brazilian outside hitter Matheus Bettim, popularly known as “Sekamana,” also trained with the team but will not travel to Tunisia because he has not completed the documentation required to represent Rwanda.
Guérin will be assisted by Police VC coach Musoni Fred and Ntawangundi Dominique, while Sibomana Placide will oversee the players’ physical conditioning.
Rwanda will compete alongside 15 other teams at the continental championship, including hosts Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, DR Congo, Libya, Cameroon, Chad, Morocco, Kenya, Ghana, Gambia, Nigeria, Central African Republic, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
