Rwanda Defence Force troops serving under the UNMISS hosted the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in South Sudan, Anita Kiki Gbeho, at the mission headquarters on the outskirts of Juba.
The reception ceremony, held on April 28, 2026, featured a military parade involving RDF peacekeepers alongside contingents from Bangladesh, China, Ethiopia, and Nepal.
Following the parade, Gbeho held meetings with senior UNMISS leadership, mission personnel, peacekeepers, police units, representatives of international partner organizations, and civilian staff serving under the mission.
She was recently appointed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres as the head of UNMISS and Special Representative in South Sudan.
Gbeho succeeds Nicholas Haysom, who passed away on March 18, 2026.
