Rwanda’s police team, RNP SWAT Team I, claimed the bronze medal at the UAE SWAT Challenge 2026, an international counter-terrorism competition held in the United Arab Emirates.
Rwanda was represented by three teams in the tournament, which brought together 109 police and military units from around the world to showcase their counter-terrorism skills.
The competition tested participants across five categories, including navigating challenging obstacle courses, teamwork under pressure, climbing walls, and negotiating complex terrain.
The final event on February 11, 2026, involved 48 teams tackling 19 specially designed obstacles. Each team of five had to complete the course quickly and efficiently.
Kazakhstan police team C won gold with 536 points, while Kazakhstan police team A took silver with 515 points. China police team C secured bronze in the final event with 493 points.
RNP SWAT Team I finished the course in 3 minutes, 40.90 seconds, placing third in the final event and earning the bronze medal. RNP SWAT Team II placed 14th with 4 minutes, 19 seconds, while Rwanda defence force SOF Team came 15th at 4 minutes, 20 seconds.
Overall standings saw RNP SWAT Team I in sixth place with 484 points, RNP SWAT Team II 29th with 386 points, and Rwanda defence force SOF Team 37th with 361 points.
Rwanda’s strong showing underscores the professionalism and skill of its police and security forces on the international stage.
