A total of 333 members of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), including officers, have completed a three-month vocational and technical training programme at Rwanda Polytechnic’s Huye College.

The training was designed to equip participants with practical skills in various trades, strengthen their professional capabilities and improve service delivery in their military duties.

The graduation ceremony was attended by Brig Gen Louis Kanobayire, Director of Military Training and Education in the RDF, who represented the Chief of Defence Staff. Also present were Lt Col Dr Bernabe Twabagira, Principal of Rwanda Polytechnic’s Huye College, and other officials from the institution.

Brig Gen Kanobayire congratulated the graduates, emphasising the importance of practical skills in strengthening the capabilities of military personnel.

He noted that the knowledge acquired would help them perform their duties more effectively, pursue income-generating activities, become more self-reliant and improve their livelihoods after retirement from military service.

He urged the graduates to put their newly acquired skills into practice, remain committed to their work and uphold professionalism as they contribute to the continued development of the Rwanda Defence Force.

Lt Col Dr Twabagira commended the graduates for their dedication and commitment throughout the training programme.

He encouraged them to apply their skills in serving the RDF and the country at large, while upholding professionalism, discipline and teamwork.

Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Lt Col Murenzi Rugeruza thanked the RDF leadership for providing them with the opportunity to undertake the training.

He pledged that they would use the knowledge and skills gained to contribute to the development of the military and the country as a whole.

The three-month programme reflects the RDF’s continued efforts to strengthen the professional and practical skills of its personnel, equipping them to contribute to national development both during their military careers and after retirement.
