Prime Minister Justin Nsengiyumva has joined African leaders and global stakeholders at the official opening of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Annual Meetings in Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.
The high-level gathering, which opened on May 26, 2026, has brought together more than 3,000 participants, including Heads of State, government leaders, policymakers, and representatives from the private sector and international financial institutions.
The meetings are focused on mobilising financial resources and strengthening development financing mechanisms to accelerate Africa’s transformation, with special emphasis on infrastructure development, access to clean water, and improved sanitation services.
Among the Heads of State attending are Denis Sassou Nguesso of the Republic of Congo, Brice Oligui Nguema of Gabon, and Faustin-Archange Touadéra of the Central African Republic, alongside prime ministers and senior officials from across the continent.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister, Nsengiyumva joined other leaders at the official launch of the 2026 AfDB Annual Meetings, underscoring Rwanda’s continued engagement in continental development discussions.
AfDB President Sidi Ould Tah called for reforms in financial systems, legal frameworks, and infrastructure financing models to improve Africa’s ability to mobilise domestic and external resources for development.
The African Development Bank remains a key partner in Rwanda’s development agenda, particularly in financing large-scale infrastructure projects and supporting long-term economic growth initiatives.
