Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) have been commended for their professionalism, discipline and dedication in carrying out the mission’s mandate.
Brigadier General Shishir Bhardwaj, Commander of UNMISS Sector South, praised troops from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) serving with RWANBATT-3 during a visit to the UNMISS Durupi Camp in Juba.
He was received by the RWANBATT-3 Commander, Colonel Innocent Rwaka Muhirwe.
Brig. Gen. Bhardwaj described RWANBATT-3 as a model contingent, commending its commitment, teamwork and effective coordination in carrying out peacekeeping duties.
“You have distinguished yourselves as exemplary troops in this southern sector, demonstrating resilience, professionalism, effective coordination, teamwork and dedication in carrying out the UNMISS mandate,” he said.
In recognition of their service, Brig. Gen. Bhardwaj presented certificates of appreciation to Colonel Muhirwe, officers and other members of the contingent.
He said the recipients represented the wider RWANBATT-3 contingent and were being recognized for their contribution to the successful implementation of the UNMISS mandate.
Brig. Gen. Bhardwaj also commended Colonel Muhirwe for his strong leadership and his role in fostering discipline, cooperation and high morale among the troops.
Colonel Muhirwe thanked the UNMISS leadership in Sector South for its continued support and guidance to RDF peacekeepers. He said the support had been instrumental in helping RWANBATT-3 fulfill its responsibilities and address challenges encountered in their daily operations.
