Rwanda’s women’s national football team, She Amavubi, have been eliminated from the race to qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games after losing 2-1 on aggregate to Ethiopia in the second qualifying round.

In the return leg played at Dire Dawa Stadium in Ethiopia on October 13, 2026, the two teams drew 1-1, allowing Ethiopia to advance to the next round.

Mesay Temesgen scored for Ethiopia, strengthening the hosts’ position after their victory in the first leg in Kigali.

Ethiopia won the first leg 1-0 at Kigali Pelé Stadium on October 7, 2026. The decisive goal came in first-half stoppage time after Rwanda’s Lydia Uzayisenga scored an own goal.

For Rwanda, Evelyne Ishimwe Mizero scored in the return leg, but her goal was not enough to keep She Amavubi in the competition.
