APR FC head coach Taleb Abderrahim has signed a contract extension that will keep him in charge of the club for the 2026/27 season, with the possibility of further renewal depending on his performance.
The Rwandan champions confirmed the extension on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, ending weeks of speculation over the future of the Moroccan tactician, who completed his first season at the club with remarkable success.
“Head Coach Taleb Abderrahim has extended his contract with APR FC! We are ready for more years of success. After winning three trophies in one season, including the Rwanda Premier League, Peace Cup and Super Cup, the journey continues,” APR FC said in a statement shared on its social media platforms.
Abderrahim joined APR FC in the summer of 2025 on a three-year agreement running until 2028, but the deal was structured with annual reviews based on the team’s performance.
The Moroccan coach enjoyed an impressive debut campaign, guiding APR FC to three domestic titles — the Rwanda Premier League, Peace Cup and Super Cup. However, the club’s ambitions remain focused on making a deeper impact in continental competitions, where progress has proved challenging in recent years.
APR FC is currently preparing in Shyorongi for a busy 2026/27 season, including the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup scheduled in Rwanda from July 24 to August 8, as well as CAF Champions League engagements.
The club has also strengthened its squad ahead of the new campaign, signing six new players. They include left-back Ishimwe Christian, who returned from Police FC; Ivorian striker Amani Kouadiokan Michel Breygeneve from AFAD Djékanou; midfielder Rubuguza Jean Pierre from Gicumbi FC; striker Uwiyaremye Fidali from Kiyovu Sports; Malian midfielder Mamadou Traoré from Stade Malien; and Mozambican goalkeeper Ernan Siluane from Black Bulls FC.
APR FC has also extended contracts with defenders Nshimiyimana Yunusu and Byiringo Jean Gilbert, while parting ways with former captain Niyomugabo Claude, foreign players Aliou Souané, Mamadou Sy and Mahamadou Lamine Bah, as well as Niyigena Clement, who moved to Egypt’s Smouha Sports Club.
