Kenya’s Tusker FC has visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial in Gisozi to pay tribute to victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, as part of its participation in the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup in Rwanda.

During the visit on Monday, the club’s players and officials were taken through Rwanda’s history, the events leading to the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, and the country’s journey of recovery, reconciliation, and nation-building. The delegation also laid wreaths in honour of the victims laid to rest at the memorial.

Tusker FC travelled to Rwanda for the regional tournament, where it competed in Group A alongside Rayon Sports, Al Hilal SC, and KVZ SC.

The Kenyan side was eliminated in the group stage after finishing third in its pool, ending its campaign before the knockout rounds.

Tusker FC was not initially scheduled to participate in this year’s CECAFA Kagame Cup but secured a place after Sudanese club Al Merrikh SC withdrew from the competition.
