Rwanda international defender Ange Mutsinzi and his Azerbaijan club Zira FC have advanced to the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League after eliminating Georgia’s Torpedo Kutaisi with a convincing 6-0 aggregate victory.
Zira completed the job on Thursday night, July 16, after defeating Torpedo Kutaisi 3-0 in the second leg of the first qualifying round at Ramaz Shengelia Stadium.
Mutsinzi started the match and played the entire 90 minutes, helping his side secure another clean sheet and confirm their place in the next round.
The 26-year-old defender also featured for the full duration of the first leg, where Zira claimed a 3-0 home victory before producing another strong defensive display in Georgia.
The two results saw Zira progress with a 6-0 aggregate scoreline, keeping clean sheets in both matches.
The draw for the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League will be held on Saturday, July 18, with Zira set to discover its next opponent.
Established by UEFA in 2021, the Conference League is Europe’s third-tier club competition, bringing together teams that qualify through domestic league and cup performances, behind those competing in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League.
