Rwanda has welcomed three newly appointed ambassadors, marking another step in strengthening its diplomatic ties across Europe and Africa.
The Minister of State for Regional Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Usta Kaitesi, on Monday received copies of letters of credence from Giles Cerutti of Switzerland, Brig. Gen. Boubacar Diallo of Mali, and Victorino-Nká Obiang Maye of Equatorial Guinea.
The credential presentation ceremony was held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Kigali on March 2, 2026.
The arrival of the new envoys comes as Rwanda continues to expand its global partnerships in key sectors including trade, education, infrastructure and security cooperation.
Relations between Rwanda and Switzerland have steadily grown, particularly in development cooperation, education and commerce. In December last year, Rwanda signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Switzerland-based International Institute for Diplomacy (IID), aimed at enhancing collaboration in high-level diplomatic training, international law, negotiations and professional capacity building.
Rwanda’s ties with Mali are anchored in diplomatic engagement and security cooperation, reflecting shared interests in regional stability and collaboration.
Equatorial Guinea and Rwanda also maintain cordial relations, with bilateral agreements covering areas such as infrastructure development, governance, trade, air transport and tourism promotion. In 2014, both countries committed to strengthening cooperation in good governance, facilitating air connectivity, boosting investment and easing tourism between the two nations.
Officials say the accreditation of the new ambassadors reinforces Rwanda’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations and advancing mutually beneficial partnerships across regions.
