The major Muhanga–Ngororero–Mukamira road has been temporarily closed following heavy rains that caused landslides and flooding, endangering travelers’ safety.
Rwanda National Police reported that parts of the road were damaged and posed significant risks to commuters. Authorities say the closure is a precautionary measure while repair work is underway.
Drivers are advised to use alternative routes, including Mukamira–Musanze–Kigali, Muhanga–Kigali–Musanze–Mukamira, and Muhanga–Rubengera–Rutsiro–Rubavu. Police officers have been deployed to guide motorists and ensure safe passage along these detours.
Residents are urged to follow official instructions, exercise caution during severe weather, and report any road hazards immediately to prevent accidents.
