Residents of Uwinkingi Sector in Nyamagabe District were praised for their significant contribution to community development and environmental protection during the March 2026 Umuganda.
The event was attended by Senator Marie Rose Mureshyankwanowanda senator”], District Mayor Hildebrand Niyomwungeri, and members of the District Security Council, who joined residents in various initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods and public infrastructure.
As part of the activities, residents planted over 2,000 fruit trees on Bunyunyu Hill in Gahira Cell and rehabilitated the 2-kilometre Gatyazo–Bunyunyu road, promoting environmental sustainability and easier mobility.
Mayor Niyomwungeri commended the community’s strong participation, urging residents to uphold hard work, protect forests, continue tree planting, maintain hygiene, and make use of financial and health services such as EBM receipts and CRB credit information. He also encouraged attention to the elderly and participation in non-communicable disease screenings.
Senator Mureshyankwano lauded residents for their engagement in agricultural and development activities, urging them to sustain progress and avoid regression. She also called on the community to prepare for the 32nd commemoration of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, promoting unity, reconciliation, and anti-genocide education for children.
The March Umuganda highlighted strong community cooperation and dedication, underscoring the pivotal role of residents in nation-building and improving local wellbeing.
