Badrama, a controversial figure known for his outspoken criticism of Rwanda and its leadership, was denied entry to Rwandan artist Ruti Joel’s concert held in the United States, in an incident that has since stirred debate on social media.

The event, staged on Saturday night, March 28, 2026, in Indiana, brought together members of the Rwandan diaspora and friends of Rwanda. It aimed to celebrate Rwandan culture, strengthen unity, and foster social connection among attendees.

According to witnesses, Badrama arrived at the venue accompanied by four security guards. However, organizers declined him entry, promptly refunding his tickets and asking him to leave the premises.

Despite initial resistance, he was ultimately informed that the decision was final and exited the venue with his entourage.

Shortly after, Badrama took to his social media platforms to voice frustration, claiming he had been ejected “like a thief” despite holding valid tickets like other attendees.

The incident quickly drew reactions online, with many praising Ruti Joel for the move, citing the artist’s body of work—some of which highlights Rwanda’s liberation struggle and national pride—values they argue contradict Badrama’s public stance.

Despite the disruption, the concert proceeded successfully, with Ruti Joel delivering a vibrant performance of his popular tracks including Igikobwa, Cunda, Cyane, and Ngwino Mama, among others, to an enthusiastic audience.

Videos shared online show a lively atmosphere, underscoring the event’s overall success despite the controversy.
