The Ministry of Education reports a 2.8% increase in students with disabilities enrolled in schools during the 2024/25 academic year, though their exam pass rates remain below the national average.

Figures presented at the State of Education Conference show enrollment rose from 42,476 in 2023/24 to 43,663 in 2024/25, representing just 0.9% of all students. Primary-level pass rates for these students stand at 60.1%, compared with the national average of 75.6%.

MINEDUC notes that over 45,000 refugee children, 173,600 orphans, and 7,000 students in rehabilitation centers are also accessing education. The ministry continues to expand classrooms, provide teacher training, and deliver specialized support to improve learning outcomes for these vulnerable groups.
