Rwanda is seeking to strengthen investment opportunities and regional cooperation through its participation in the ongoing Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Foreign Affairs Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe has said.

The two-day summit, taking place from May 11–12, 2026, brings together leaders from France and across Africa to discuss investment, innovation, security and economic cooperation.

Nduhungirehe confirmed that Paul Kagame will attend the high-level meeting, noting that Rwanda expects tangible benefits from the discussions.

“Rwanda will participate in this summit because it presents important opportunities for the country. We maintain strong relations with both France and Kenya, which is hosting the summit, and His Excellency the President of the Republic will attend,” he said.

According to the minister, the summit will focus on key issues affecting Africa’s future, including regional security, investment promotion, innovation, technology and expanding cooperation between African countries and France to advance shared economic interests.

More than 30 Heads of State and Government from across Africa are expected to attend, alongside over 1,500 investors and business leaders.

Originally launched in 1973 in Paris, the France-Africa Summit has become a major platform for political and economic engagement between African nations and France.

This year’s edition is being held under the theme of advancing innovation and economic resilience.

The Nairobi meeting also marks the first time the France-Africa Summit is being hosted in an English-speaking African country since its establishment more than five decades ago.
