Gisagara Volleyball Club has suspended two of its players, Muvara Ronald and Ngaboyintwari Cedric, following allegations of misconduct during the 2026 Genocide Memorial Volleyball Tournament (GMT).

In a statement released on Saturday, June 21, 2026, the club announced that the two players have been suspended for 90 days and will not take part in any team activities during that period.

Muvara, a middle blocker, and Ngaboyintwari, a setter, were sanctioned over what the club described as disciplinary issues that occurred during the tournament.

The club said it will not tolerate indiscipline, stressing the importance of professionalism and proper conduct among its players.

Muvara rejoined Gisagara VC this season after two years at REG VC, having previously also played for the Gisagara-based side. Ngaboyintwari joined the club from APR VC ahead of the current campaign.

Muvara was part of the Gisagara squad that won bronze at the 2022 CAVB Men’s Club Championship in Tunisia.

The disciplinary measures come amid a turbulent season for Gisagara VC, which recently appointed Kwizera Pierre Marchal as head coach following the resignation of Yakan Guma Lawrence.

The former coach stepped down after a dip in results, despite a strong start to the season that saw Gisagara VC win the BK Arena Volleyball Tournament and finish top of the regular season standings.

However, the club’s form declined in the playoffs, where they were eliminated in the semifinals by Police VC and later lost the third-place playoff to Kepler VC.

Gisagara VC also suffered setbacks in other competitions, including the Heroes Cup and the Padre Kayumba Memorial Cup, before continuing to struggle at the GMT 2026, where they were knocked out in the quarterfinals by Police VC.
