APR FC defeated Etincelles FC 2-0 in the seventh round of Rwanda’s 2026/27 BK Pro League at Stade Umuganda in Rubavu on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
Etincelles hosted the match in front of their home supporters, who had hoped to see their team secure a victory. However, APR FC took all three points, with William Togui and Nshimiyimana Yunusu scoring the goals.
After the match, Etincelles head coach Bizimana Abdul Bekeni acknowledged that his team had faced a strong opponent determined to collect points after encountering difficulties in the CAF Champions League.
He said his players lacked composure, pointing to an incident in which a substituted player left the pitch in tears over a missed scoring opportunity.
“Our players lacked mental composure. One of the players we substituted left the pitch crying because he had failed to score. That is what was missing in this match. Fans may not understand this because they think football is only about strength and technique,” Bekeni said.
He added that APR FC were highly motivated to win as they sought to demonstrate that they were addressing the problems encountered in continental competitions.
“We also faced a strong team returning from continental football with problems to address. They want to return to those competitions and correct their mistakes. They need to collect points wherever they play because, if they fail to do so, they will have nothing to tell their supporters,” he said.
Bekeni, whose team has now lost three consecutive matches, said he was not worried about the possibility of being dismissed, noting that his long experience in football had taught him to handle defeats without undue pressure.
“It is a team that has been together for a long time and has achieved a lot. Whatever decision the supporters or club owners make, I will respect it. I have spent nearly 50 years in football, so losing does not put me under pressure,” he said.
The victory moved APR FC to 10th place in the league standings with six points, while Etincelles remained ninth with seven points.
