Ten women’s football clubs, including Rwanda champions Rayon Sports, will compete in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers scheduled to take place in Kigali.
The regional tournament will run from August 21 to 31, 2026, bringing together leading women’s clubs from Eastern and Central Africa as they battle for a place at the CAF Women’s Champions League finals.
The group stage draw will be held on Thursday, July 30, at Amahoro Stadium’s conference hall, starting at 10:30 a.m.
Rayon Sports will fly Rwanda’s flag in the competition after winning the national women’s league title. They will be joined by Top Girls Academy of Burundi, FC Ujeco of Djibouti, Commercial Bank of Ethiopia FC, Denden FC of Eritrea, Kenya Police Bullets of Kenya, Yei Joint Stars of South Sudan, Simba Queens of Tanzania, Kawempe Muslim Ladies of Uganda and Mafunzo WFC of Zanzibar.
The 10 participating teams will be placed into three groups, with one group containing four teams and the other two groups consisting of three teams each.
The top two teams from the four-team group will progress to the semifinals, alongside the winners of the two three-team groups.
Rayon Sports will be seeking to go one step further after reaching last year’s final, where they lost to Tanzania’s JKT.
JKT will not return for this year’s competition after Simba Queens claimed the Tanzanian women’s league title and took the country’s slot in the CECAFA qualifiers.
