The group arrived in Rwanda on the night of February 25, 2026. It includes 19 Eritreans, 143 Sudanese nationals, one Ethiopian and one South Sudanese.
Since 2019, Rwanda has received a total of 2,760 refugees and migrants evacuated from Libya under the emergency transit mechanism established in partnership with the UN refugee agency. Of these, about 2,500 have already been resettled in third countries.
Among those resettled, 255 were received by Sweden, 588 by Canada, 203 by Norway, 163 by France, 206 by Finland, 52 by the Netherlands, 72 by Belgium, and 296 by the United States.
Overall, Rwanda currently hosts more than 130,000 refugees, the majority of whom originate from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Burundi.
