The Rwanda Basic Education Board (REB) has launched the distribution of 15,000 computers to 483 schools, starting in the Eastern Province, to strengthen digital skills and improve education quality nationwide.

In Ngoma District, 16 schools received a total of 487 ASUS ExpertBook laptops on January 5. EP Tambiro Primary School, which previously had only two outdated computers, received 16 new machines, giving both teachers and students greater access to technology.

GS Kibungo A received 50 laptops to replace nonfunctional devices and support students in research and digital learning, while helping teachers deliver more interactive lessons.

As part of the initiative, the Ministry of Education plans to work with partners to ensure all schools have electricity, enabling full use of digital tools.

Ngoma District Mayor Nathalie Niyonagira praised the government for including rural schools in the program and urged schools to use the new computers responsibly, emphasizing their educational value.

Among the schools in Ngoma benefiting from the program are GS Gashanda, GS Kibungo A, GS Nyamugali, ES Kabilizi, GS Rwintashya, and 11 primary schools including EP Tambiro, EP Nyimbyi, and EP Mpembwe.
