Sudanese clubs Al Hilal Omdurman and Al Merrikh, both competing in Rwanda’s BK Pro League, have advanced to the second qualifying round of the CAF Champions League after winning their preliminary-round ties.
Al Hilal secured a 1-0 win over Burundi’s Aigle Noir at Amahoro Stadium on Saturday, completing a 3-0 aggregate victory.
Ahmed M’Bracek scored the decisive goal in the 43rd minute as Al Hilal followed up its 2-0 first-leg win in Burundi.
Al Hilal will face the winner between Ethiopia’s Sidama Bunna FC and Chad’s Aiglons FC in the next round. The first leg ended 0-0, with the return match scheduled for Sunday in Ethiopia.
Al Merrikh also progressed after eliminating Zambia’s Power Dynamos.
The Sudanese champions travelled to Zambia with a 1-0 lead from the first leg in Kigali and secured another 1-0 victory in the return match.
Feno Hasin scored the only goal as Al Merrikh completed a 2-0 aggregate win.
Al Merrikh, coached by Darko Nović, will meet South Africa’s Orlando Pirates in the second qualifying round.
Orlando Pirates advanced after eliminating Mauritius’ La Cure Waves SC 3-1 on aggregate.
The first legs of the second qualifying round will be played from October 16-18, with the return matches scheduled for October 23-25, 2026.
