APR FC has officially announced the departure of three foreign players following the expiration of their contracts, as the Rwandan champions begin reshaping their squad ahead of a busy 2026/27 campaign.
The players leaving the club are Mauritanian striker Mamadou Sy, Senegalese defender Aliou Souané, and Malian midfielder Mohamadou Lamine Bah, all of whom spent the last two seasons with the military side.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, APR FC paid tribute to the trio for their professionalism, commitment, and contribution to the club’s recent successes.
“The hard work, dedication, and loyalty they demonstrated earned them the respect of teammates, coaches, management, staff, and supporters,” the club said.
APR FC noted that the players had left a lasting mark on the club, adding that the memories and achievements shared during their time in Kigali would not be forgotten.
The three players were part of a successful APR FC side that won several trophies, including three titles during the 2025/26 season.
“Wearing the Black and White jersey is more than representing a football club. It is a commitment to excellence, discipline, and a culture of winning,” the club added.
The departures come as APR FC intensifies preparations for next season, which will feature domestic competitions, the CAF Champions League, and the CECAFA Kagame Cup, set to be hosted in Rwanda from July 18 to August 8, 2026.
The club is also expected to make further decisions regarding a number of players whose contracts are nearing expiration. Among those reportedly facing an uncertain future is midfielder Mugisha Gilbert, popularly known as Barafinda, who has struggled to secure a regular place in the team since joining the club.
APR FC is expected to be active in the transfer market as it seeks to strengthen its squad for both domestic and continental challenges next season.
