The Rwanda Development Board (RDB) has introduced temporary operating hours for businesses during the end-of-year festive period, effective from 22 December 2025 to 5 January 2026.
The announcement was made in an official statement released by RDB on Sunday, 21 December 2025.
According to RDB, businesses including shops, restaurants, bars, and nightclubs will be permitted to operate throughout the night on Fridays, weekends, and public holidays during this period.
From Monday to Thursday, these businesses will be allowed to operate until 3:00 a.m. (three hours into the following day).
The measure aims to facilitate both Rwandans and visitors to Rwanda in enjoying various leisure and recreational activities associated with the end-of-year celebrations.
RDB also emphasized that despite these extended hours, existing regulations remain in force, including rules on noise control and the prohibition of selling or serving alcohol to persons under the age of 18.
The public has been urged to drink responsibly and to avoid driving under the influence of alcohol.
Business owners were further reminded not to serve alcohol to individuals who appear intoxicated.
