Gicumbi FC moved top of the BK Pro League after securing a second consecutive victory, while Kiyovu Sports suffered another defeat as the second round of the 2026/27 season produced just three goals in four matches.

Only four of the nine scheduled fixtures were played over the weekend, with the remaining matches postponed because APR FC, Rayon Sports, Al Hilal SC and Al Merrikh SC were involved in continental competitions.

Musanze FC started the weekend with a 1-0 victory over Kiyovu Sports at Ubworoherane Stadium on Friday. Munyurangabo Leonidas scored the only goal in the 24th minute after receiving a pass from Kwihangana Cedekla.

The victory was Musanze’s first of the season, while Kiyovu suffered their second consecutive defeat, despite starting the season by winning the country’s top domestic cup.

On Saturday, Etincelles FC defeated Gorilla FC 1-0 at Kigali Pele Stadium. Gedeon Ndonga Bivula converted a 35th-minute penalty and was named player of the match.

At Ngoma Stadium, Etoile de l’Est and Kigali FC played out a goalless draw. Kigali goalkeeper Ndikuriyo Patient was named player of the match after making three important saves.

Gicumbi then claimed a 1-0 home victory over Amagaju FC. Hakizimana Steven scored in the eighth minute from a Bitwayiki Bahati Clement assist and was named player of the match.

The result took Gicumbi to six points from two matches, putting them at the top of the table. Etincelles are second with four points, while Mukura VS&L are third with three.

Marine FC, Musanze FC, Amagaju FC and Gorilla FC also have three points.

Kiyovu remain the only team to have lost both of their opening matches. Gasogi United, Kigali FC and Etoile de l’Est have each conceded two more goals than they have scored.

The four matches produced only three goals, an average of 0.75 goals per game. One of the three goals came from the penalty spot.

There were 12 yellow cards across the four matches, an average of three per game, while no red cards were issued.

The BK Pro League returns on Tuesday with three third-round fixtures. Kiyovu Sports host Bugesera FC at Kigali Pele Stadium, Etincelles FC face Musanze FC at Umuganda Stadium, and Etoile de l’Est host Gicumbi FC at Ngoma Stadium. All three matches kick off at 3 p.m.

On Wednesday, Amagaju FC host Al Merrikh SC at Huye Stadium, Kigali FC face Al Hilal SC at Kigali Pele Stadium, and APR FC take on Marine FC at 6:30 p.m.

The round concludes on Thursday, when Mukura VS&L host Police FC at Huye Stadium. Gasogi United will face Gorilla FC at Kigali Pele Stadium at 3 p.m., before Rayon Sports host Sunrise FC at 6:30 p.m.
