Rwanda’s industrial production increased by 0.7% in April 2026 compared to the same month in 2025, according to the latest Index of Industrial Production (IIP) report released by the National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR).

The report, published on June 5, 2026, shows that the average annual growth rate of industrial output stood at 6.5%, reflecting steady expansion across key sectors of the economy.

The strongest performance was recorded in utilities, with water supply and waste management rising by 14.1%, while electricity generation increased by 14.8%, the highest growth among all sub-sectors.

Mining and quarrying output grew by 5.3%, while overall manufacturing activities recorded a 5.5% increase during the period under review.

Within manufacturing, food processing industries grew by 8.3%, supported by a 3% rise in beverage and tobacco production.

However, some segments experienced declines. Production of non-metallic mineral products, including construction materials, fell by 16.7%, while wood, paper, and printing industries decreased by 3.2%.

Despite the mixed performance, overall industrial output remained on an upward trajectory, driven largely by gains in utilities and manufacturing activities.
