President Paul Kagame on Tuesday held talks with Hugh Evans, Chief Executive Officer of Global Citizen, focusing on strengthening ongoing cooperation to advance economic development, particularly in the health and education sectors.
The meeting took place on March 17 at Village Urugwiro, shortly before the Move Afrika concert held at BK Arena, which featured American rapper Doja Cat.
According to a statement shared via X by the Office of the President, Kagame received Evans ahead of the third edition of the Move Afrika event.
The discussions focused on reinforcing the Rwanda–Global Citizen partnership, with emphasis on advancing the creative economy, alongside ongoing collaboration in health and education.
Rwanda and Global Citizen have built a long-standing partnership aimed at positioning the country as a global entertainment hub, while also creating employment opportunities for young people through initiatives such as Move Afrika.
Previous editions of the concert featured Kendrick Lamar in 2023 and John Legend in February 2025, with all performances hosted at BK Arena.
Data indicates that nearly 90 percent of youth engaged in organizing and delivering these events gain employment opportunities, while the initiative also contributes to boosting Rwanda’s tourism sector.
Beyond entertainment, Global Citizen collaborates with the Government of Rwanda through the Rwanda Development Board and the Ministry of Gender and Family Promotion to advocate for solutions to key social challenges, including poverty reduction.
These efforts include mobilizing developed countries and international organizations to increase funding for developing nations.
In the areas of health and education, several initiatives have been rolled out, including “The Power of Choice,” which equips young people with knowledge on reproductive health and informed decision-making, while also supporting women and farmers to drive sustainable development.
