Fast-food giant Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) is set to return to Kigali with three new branches, marking its comeback after a period of closure.
KFC previously operated in Remera along Prince House–Masaka Road but was forced to close when the building was slated for demolition due to road construction.
According to KT Press, one branch is currently under construction in Kimironko, on the site of the former Engen petrol station near Simba Supermarket, and is expected to open within two months. The other two branches will open simultaneously in Gikondo and Muhima.
The move reflects KFC’s global approach of constructing purpose-built outlets to provide a consistent dining experience.
This expansion is expected to boost Kigali’s fast-food sector, offering residents more options and signaling renewed confidence in the city’s growing consumer market
