Rwandan actor Mukobwajana Asifiwe, popularly known as Micky, says she decided to seek legal intervention after more than two years of trying to tolerate a dispute with people she accuses of defaming her, saying the situation eventually affected her children and family.
Micky said she had tried to avoid allowing the dispute, which she says began in 2024, to escalate. She said she never wanted anyone to be imprisoned or for the situation to cause harm to another person.
In a letter explaining her decision to pursue legal action, Micky said she had for some time been exposed to various statements and actions that she disagreed with but chose to remain patient and avoid confrontation, hoping the matter would eventually be resolved.
According to Micky, the situation continued to escalate until it began affecting her children, prompting her to decide that she could no longer remain silent.
“The issue eventually reached my children, and that is when I realised that I could not continue to remain silent,” she said.
Micky said her decision to file a complaint was not motivated by revenge or a desire to further escalate the dispute. Instead, she said she had first tried to remain patient and find ways to prevent the situation from worsening.
She asked the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) to examine her complaint and the available evidence, saying her objective was not to seek revenge or harm anyone but to establish the truth and protect her family’s rights.
“What I am asking is for the truth to be established, the rights of my family members to be respected, and, if a crime was committed, for it to be investigated in accordance with the law,” she said.
Micky said she had spent a long time trying to avoid conflict but had now decided to allow the relevant authorities to handle the matter.
She said she trusts the justice system and wants the case to be handled based on facts, evidence and the law rather than hatred or revenge.
