The District Administration Security Support Organ (DASSO) in Nyanza District has donated a cow to a Genocide survivor, in a community initiative aimed at improving livelihoods and supporting vulnerable households.

The cow was purchased through voluntary contributions from DASSO personnel, reflecting a collective effort to extend social support beyond security responsibilities.

The beneficiary, Mukantagara Marie Louise, 42, from Nyamagana B village in Kavumu Cell, Busasamana Sector, welcomed the support, describing it as a renewed source of hope after losing a previous cow to illness.

She expressed appreciation for continued national efforts to uplift Genocide survivors, noting that the gesture demonstrates ongoing care and inclusion.

Nyanza’s Acting Mayor, Kajyambere Patrick, commended DASSO for the initiative, saying it reflects the country’s values of solidarity and community support. He encouraged the beneficiary to properly care for the cow and, in the future, extend similar support to others.

Officials highlighted that DASSO is increasingly involved in social welfare initiatives, including livestock distribution and support to students returning to school.

The donated cow was provided with essential support, including veterinary care, feed supplements, and insurance to ensure sustainability and long-term impact on the beneficiary’s livelihood.
