Rwanda’s Ambassador, Maj. Gen. Joseph Nzabamwita, has presented his letters of credence to Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, officially accrediting him as Rwanda’s representative to Serbia.
Based in Switzerland, Amb. Nzabamwita also represents Rwanda in Belarus and Armenia under concurrent accreditation.
Speaking after the ceremony, he pledged to further strengthen diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries.
Rwanda and Serbia have been expanding cooperation following agreements signed in 2023, particularly in trade. Rwanda exports coffee and tea to Serbia, while Serbia supplies wheat and maize, contributing to Rwanda’s food security.
The two countries are also exploring deeper collaboration in technology and innovation, including plans that could see Rwandan students pursue studies in Serbia in emerging technology fields to build skills and capacity.
Bilateral relations are anchored in longstanding friendship. Former Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić previously awarded President Paul Kagame a medal of honor for his role in strengthening cooperation between the two nations.
At the parliamentary level, engagements have also supported ties. Serbia’s former Speaker Maja Gojković once held discussions with Rwanda’s Speaker Donatille Mukabalisa on enhancing bilateral and legislative cooperation.
