President Paul Kagame, who is in Washington, D.C., hosted a dinner with Members of Congress, to discuss the strengthening of bilateral relations between Rwanda and the United States.
President Kagame arrived in Washington on Wednesday to attend the signing of a landmark peace agreement aimed at revitalizing relations between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
The ceremony will bring together President Kagame and President Félix Tshisekedi of the DRC, along with leaders from countries supporting the regional peace mediation process.
Ahead of the signing event scheduled for Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Kigali time, President Kagame met with the U.S. Congressional delegation to exchange views on the state and future of Rwanda–U.S. cooperation.
The delegation included Senator Mike Rounds, Representative Brian Mast, Senator Kevin Cramer, Senator Pete Ricketts, Representative Ronny Jackson, and Representative Trent Kelly.
Discussions centered on strengthening bilateral cooperation through key initiatives that contribute to lasting stability and prosperity.
President Kagame also held a separate meeting with Senator Lindsey Olin Graham, they discussed ways to deepen collaboration between Rwanda and the United States in various key strategic areas, including conservation, security and economic partnership
The United States remains a key partner in the ongoing diplomatic efforts to support dialogue between Rwanda and the DRC, as regional and international stakeholders work to address persistent insecurity in eastern Congo and promote lasting stability in the Great Lakes region.
