President Paul Kagame held talks at the White House with U.S. President Donald Trump, alongside several other senior officials and African heads of states.
The meeting was attended by U.S. Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the U.S. Advisor on African Partnerships Massad Boulos, President Trump’s Senior Advisor on Arab and African Affairs, and Senator Lindsey Graham.
All were in Washington for the signing of a peace agreement between President Félix Tshisekedi and President Kagame, aimed at resolving longstanding security challenges in the region.
Following the signing ceremony, President Kagame also met with President William Ruto of Kenya, who currently chairs the East African Community (EAC).
The Head of State further held bilateral discussions with Togo’s President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé, focusing on strengthening cooperation between Rwanda and Togo for mutual benefit.
President Kagame additionally met with Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, with discussions centered on bilateral ties and collaboration in various sectors, including security, health, and trade.
