Prime Minister Nsengiyumva leads commemoration for former MINIJUST, MINITRAPE and MINITRANSCO staff

Prime Minister Dr. Justin Nsengiyumva on Friday led a commemoration ceremony in honour of victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi, paying tribute specifically to former employees of MINIJUST, MINITRAPE and MINITRANSCO.

The ceremony took place at the Prime Minister’s Office, where the Premier laid wreaths at the Genocide memorial located within the premises, in remembrance of staff members who were killed during the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

The event brought together ministers and senior government officials working in institutions hosted at the Prime Minister’s Office complex, as part of ongoing Kwibuka32 activities marking 32 years since the Genocide against the Tutsi.

Prime Minister, alongside other Cabinet ministers, lays wreaths at the Genocide against the Tutsi memorial located at the Prime Minister’s Office building.

The commemoration specifically honoured former staff of the Ministry of Justice (MINIJUST), Ministry of Transport and Communications (MINITRAPE and MINITRANSCO), who were among the victims targeted during the Genocide.

Prime Minister Nsengiyumva was joined by Minister of Justice and Attorney General Dr. Emmanuel Ugirashebuja, Minister of Infrastructure Dr. Jimmy Gasore, and the Minister of State in the Ministry of Infrastructure, Amb. Uwihanganye, alongside other senior officials.

Participants observed a moment of silence and laid wreaths in tribute to the victims, reaffirming the government’s commitment to preserving the memory of those lost and strengthening unity and reconciliation efforts.
